MoE Winterbird Censuses - Species totals

How the page works:

  1. The chart shows the total for all species only on opening the page or on selecting "Select family" in the family selector. To have manageable lists, family divides the species selection. After selecting a family, the chart shows the total for that selected family and then for a selected species.
  2. Is a species selected, the chart shows the over all total for this speces and survey. Moving the mouse over a bar in the chart shows the exact number.
  3. Two maps are shown for a selected species. The left one shows how many surveys were conducted at a site indicated by a colored dot: grey means only 1 survey, red less than 1/3 of all surveys at that site, yellow between 1/3 and less than 2/3 and green 2/3 or more.
  4. The map on the right shows the count number in ranges for the selected species at sites indicated by dots with different sizes.
The ranges are: < 10,< 100 (10-99),< 1,000 (100-999),< 10,000 (1000-9999),< 100,000 (10000-99999),< 1,000,000 (100000-999999) and 1,000,000+. On first selection the map shows the data for the earliest survey the species was recorded. To the right of the map a list of buttons with the Year-Month of all available surveys for that species is shown and a click on a button updates the map. In addition to the count number indicators the survey date and the number of sites for this survey and species is shown on the bottom right of the map.
  5. On reloading the page, all selections are set to "All".
